Vidda Campaign
Northern Fury
Operation Northern Fury tasked ODA 5314 of the 5th Special Forces Group with locating and capturing a suspected Vidda Liberation Front (VLF) courier in the eastern town of Tokatun. After establishing a temporary Mission Support Site in the town, the team located the courier at a suspected VLF safehouse, triggering a major firefight that left eight VLF militants, including the courier, dead, along with one civilian. Although the team failed to capture the courier alive, they recovered documents containing intelligence regarding the disappearance of two Viddian government officials. Among the recovered materials was a detainee transfer record indicating that the officials had been transferred to a facility designated SITE KESTREL, with further movement authorized by an individual known as WARDEN. Following the engagement, ODA 5314 returned to Vidda International Airport. While the operation generated significant public concern over civilian casualties and the growing insurgency, the recovered intelligence provided the first major lead in the search for the missing officials.
